On the 22nd of May 2018, Mr. Anthony van der Hoest, Director Commerce at MTBS, was invited to present his views on the crucial factors underlying valuable Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the maritime industry. The three-day Black Sea Ports and Shipping convention, which was hosted by the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company, gathered over 300 international representatives from various sectors including terminal operators, shipping lines, and port authorities. During his presentation, Mr. van der Hoest addressed the changing dynamics of international logistic chains and its impact on the maritime industry. Furthermore, three existing PPP opportunities in the Black Sea Region were discussed by Mr. van der Hoest. These included the concessioning of the SC Olvia and Kherson Port in Ukraine, and the Zagreb Deep Sea Container Terminal in Croatia.
Mr. van der Hoest’s presentation was part of the 4th session of the Black Sea Ports and Shipping Convention which centred around port investment and port development opportunities in the Black Sea region to cope with container traffic demands and optimising cargo delivery processes. The event was organised in Varna, Bulgaria and is the largest annual container ports and terminal trade event in the Black Sea Region.
