MTBS Director Frank Luisman advocates a business case driven approach for port PPPs during Intermodal Africa Conference

During the 19th Intermodal Africa Exhibition and Conference, which was held on the 28th and 29th of March 2018 in Beira, Mozambique, MTBS Director Frank Luisman was invited to speak as one of the international port experts on structuring valuable PPPs to enable strategic growth. In his presentation, Mr. Luisman advocated that early awareness of bankability and a business case driven approach lead to optimal value creation in port PPPs.

The event was hosted by Cornelder de Moςambique, the container- and general cargo operator in the port in Beira. During the two-day conference, experts from various sectors discussed topics including port financing, efficiency improvements for cargo handling operations, connecting Africa’s hinterland through public-private partnerships (PPP), and hedging strategies against market volatility. In addition, Cornelder de Moςambique hosted an exhibition which housed over 40 international companies showcasing port- and transport related products and services. In total, over 250 delegates from governments, port authorities, terminal operators, industry experts, and shipping lines attended the event in Beira.
