Transaction Strategy for the Westerschelde Container Terminal

Zeeland Seaport (ZSP) port authority is planning to develop the greenfield Westerschelde Container Terminal (WCT) in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. In order to proceed with the project ZSP requires the commitment of a private terminal operator for the joint development and operations of the terminal. MTBS advised ZSP on the strategy to select an operator for the WCT on the basis of (1) the business case of ZSP and the potential operator, (2) a thorough market analysis, (3) review of the draft concession agreement and (4) analysis of other legal aspects of the project.
