MTBS has finalised phase 1 of the commercial and technical due diligence of the new greenfield terminal in San Pedro, the Terminal Industriel Polyvalent de San Pedro (TIPSP). TIPSP is being developed by ARISE, an important regional player in the field of ports and SEZs. With construction works already well underway, MTBS conducted a site visit in January 2021 and finalised the due diligence phase in February. In the current second phase, MTBS is monitoring construction works and in the third phase MTBS will monitor commercial operations.
TIPSP is ARISE’s first port terminal in Côte d’Ivoire as well as being San Pedro’s first full dedicated bulk terminal. The first phase of the terminal will allow for Handymax and Panamax vessels to call at the terminal, starting with one berth. The main target commodities for the new terminal are cement products, fertiliser and coal (imports) as well as manganese, lithium and nickel (exports). The total duration of TIPSP’s concession (Design, Construct, Finance and Manage) is 35 years.
