Early February 2018, MTBS officially submitted and presented the final report for the ‘Development of the Port and Logistics Hub in Trinidad and Tobago’ to the stakeholders. The project is part of the government’s ambition to improve its port sector and to diversify its economic activity into non-energy sectors.
The study comprised the analysis of three location scenarios, an environmental and social impact analysis, financial and economic assessment, PPP structuring and a detailed implementation plan for the short term and the long term.
The stakeholders involved in the project were the Urban Development Corporation (UDECOTT), the Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), the Port Authority (PATT) and the Shipping Association (SATT). The study was funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
