MTBS Holds PPP Workshop for ECOWAS

MTBS held a PFI-tailored PPP Strategy and Risk Workshop for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) from October 4th – 6th in Accra, Ghana. The workshop was hosted by ECOWAS’ Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU). Representatives from Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo as well as the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) were in attendance.

The PPP Strategy and Risk Workshop focused on selecting the appropriate PPP strategy and implementing the corresponding port management model and constructing the business case. The second part of the Workshop focused on launching a port asset on the market and attracting private bidders as well as undertaking the various steps of the transaction process. Each day’s activities and learning points were summed up using highly interactive case studies and participant dialogues and presentations.
