Exciting news as we progress with an assignment to develop a Green Bunker Hub Strategy for Panama! We explore the potential of local production and imports of green hydrogen derivatives.
As the shipping industry intensifies its decarbonisation efforts, the demand for sustainable fuels along vital shipping routes grows. In Fiscal Year 2023, the Panama Canal facilitated over 14,000 transits, handling approximately 511 million PC/UMS tons. Panama’s status as a major maritime hub underscores the significance of the bunker industry to the maritime sector. Our aim is to establish a marine Bunkering Hub, aligning with efforts to decarbonise the shipping industry.
The assignment was commissioned by the World Bank for the Secretary of Energy of Panama. MTBS leads the study and collaborates with Ricardo and PRDW, leveraging expertise and local knowledge to develop a comprehensive road map for implementation. Together, we pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future for Panama’s maritime industry.
