Monrovia Urban Mobility Inland Waterway Transport
September 2022 – August 2023
Project Description
MTBS was hired by the Government of Liberia to conduct an inland waterway transport (IWT) feasibility study. The project considered the technical, environmental, and financial feasibility of IWT as an alternative for motorized road transport. The project determined under which conditions IWT services can be provided by a private operator. Water-bound transport for passengers will promote multimodal commuting and thereby alleviate road congestion and improve urban connectivity.
