The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) and MTBS have signed a consultancy contract for a huge study that will make TPA ready for the future.
Over the past ten years, port volumes in Dar es Salaam have been growing at an average rate of nine percent per year, without corresponding modernization in the management and operational structure. The objective of the Assignment is to conduct a comprehensive review of the existing structure and regulatory framework for TPA as well of its institutional/organizational framework and to subsequently recommend a structure that would help in realizing the authority’s objectives of efficient and effective operation as a landlord model enabling public private partnerships in the port.
The Project is envisaged to last for 10 months and should be finalized around the summer 2025.
